The contents of Section 6-1-3 apply to main propulsion, steering gear, emergency and essential auxiliary systems essential for the safety of the vessel and the survivability of the crew. The vessel operating conditions are defined in Section 6-1-1. The requirements herein are additional to those applicable for the basic class.
