摘要

State officials in Alaska (USA) recently announced the settlement of civil penalties related to the 8 December 2004 wreck of the MV SelendangAyu. The ship's owner, Ayu Navigation of Port Klang, Malaysia, and operator, IMC Shipping Company Pte. Ltd. (IMC) of Singapore, will pay the state nearly US $850,000. Approximately $810,000 will fund the state's oil and hazardous substance release mitigation account. Other monies will go toward a wreck and beach monitoring fund, and compensation to the city of Unalaska for the loss of fish taxes due to the closure of the Tanner crab fishery. In addition, the settlement includes a $1 million "letter of undertaking," in which IMC and Ayu Navigation agree to remove any wreckage that surfaces before 30 August 2015.
