Arrington Oil and Gas Inc., the defendant, obtained oil and gas leases to certain tracts from three sets of landowners, the plaintiffs, in Phillips County, Arkansas. Each lease contained the usual lease clauses, a recitation of payment by the lessee of a cash bonus and royalties as consideration for the lease. A clause also provided that the lease agreement was effective as to the landowner on his execution of the lease. The lease contained a notarized signature block for each landowner but provided no signature block for the defendant lessee. Each of the oil and gas leases was drafted by the defendant.
