Tyco Thermal Controls, the world leader in heat-tracing solutions has successfully completed the installation of SEHMS for Cairn Energy's approximately 590 kilometers long, 24" in diameter, heated underground crude oil pipeline from Banner in Rajasthan to Salaya in Gujarat, via Viramgam. This is the world's longest continuously heated and insulated pipeline passing through. 270 villages, 34 major rivers and 38 canals. The pipeline is electrically heat traced with Tyco Thermal Controls' Skin Effect Heat Tracing System (STS?), which is termed as the Skin Effect Heat Management System in this project, for maintaining the temperature of the pipeline at 65°C to ensure efficient flow of the crude oil. The pipeline is provided with 35 AGI sub-stations, drawing power from 42 SEHMS panels fed from dedicated, custom designed transformers.
