The structure of the transparency field in the upper layer in the Caucasian coastal zone of the Black Sea from the Kerch Strait to Batumi was studied in the spring-summer period using the data of the towed measurments of the light attenuation coefficient. A decrease in transparency was obsderved in the southeastern direction from the northern part of the coast and near the coast. A significant inhomogeneity of the spatial structure of the transparency field was also observed. Regions of increased turbidity were found near mouths, larage ports, and resorts. The dominating influence of the distribution of suspended matter, which is closely related to the coastal runoff, water dynamics, and biological and hydrometeorological factors, on the formation of the transparency field structure was found.
