The particular features of the distribution composition of meso- and macroplankton within the Russian sector of the Black Sea in 2004 are considered.In 2004,the hydrophysical processes caused a delay from two weeks to a month long in the phenological processes in the pelagic ecosystem of the Black Sea.As a result,the time of the abundant growth of the comb jelly Mnemiopsis leidyi,which has a negative influence on the mesoplankton stock in the area studied,was prolonged,while Beroe ovata appeared here in the middle of September rather than in August as usual.The coupling of the influence of abiotic factors and of the increased pressure of gelatinous predators caused a certain decrease in the biomass of the near-shore mesoplankton and changed the proportions of selected species in its structure.
