摘要

During the past decade,the All-Russia Scientific-Research Institute for Marine Fisheries and Oceanography(VNIRO),together with the Caspian Scientific-Research Institute for Fisheries(KaspNIRKh),has been carrying out annual geochemical monitoring of the ecosystem of the Caspian Sea,especially in its deep-water depressions.There,during the periods of high sea level standing and desalination of the surface waters,a permanent increase in hypoxy and enhancement of nutrient concentrations proceeds.In the evolution history of the Caspian Sea,the periods of high sea level standing are very important,since,precisely in these periods,a gradual transition from the oxic via sub-anoxic to anoxic conditions takes place.This results in the total reconstruction of the hydrochemical structure of the sea.It seems extremely important to follow all the stages of this transition period because this may help us to understand how these kinds of processes could proceed in the Black Sea or other anoxic basins.
