摘要

A new method for timing paleoclimatic deep-sea sedimentary records previously proposed by one of the authors is used for the spectral analysis of the time series of oxygen-isotope and paleotemperature data.Based on particular examples,it is shown that the new method is simpler and universal as compared with other known methods of orbital tuning.The problem of defining numerous nonorbital periods in the amplitude-frequency spectra obtained is discussed.It is emphasized that the spectral analysis of oxygen-isotope data based on the assumption of constant sedimentation rates cannot be considered adequate.
