摘要

Horizontal fluxes of water and mesoplankton during wind-induced upwelling events off the Pri-mor'e coast (Sea of Japan) were estimated on the basis of the materials collected in the course of frequent repeated observations during the period from 1998 to 2000.The sharp variations in the abundance of small species of Copepoda observed in the coastal zone resulted from their seaward horizontal transport due to the drift offset surface current or from the shoreward motion due to the abyssal compensatory countercurrent.When an upwelling event takes place,the Oithona brevicornis individuals were usually removed from the coastal zone,whereas other species of small copepods were mainly transported in the coastward direction.It is evident that the effect of the water circulation arising in the case of an upwelling event on different zooplankton species depends on the depth of their concentrating:the lesser the depth the more effective the seaward removal of this species with the drift current from the coastal zone.
