The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ANNOUNCED LAST WEEK THE APPROVAL OF BREN-tuximab vedotin (Adcetris), a CD30-directed antibody drug-conjugatede, for the treatment of refractory Hodgkin lymphoma and systemic anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (ALCL). The drug is approved for the treatment of patients with Hodgkin lymphoma whose disease has progressed after autologous stem cell transplant, or after 2 prior multiagent chemotherapy treatments among patients ineligible to receive a transplant, and is the first new FDA-approved treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma in over 30 years. It is also the first treatment specifically indicated to treat ALCL, approved for those patients whose disease has progressed after 1 prior chemotherapy treatment.
