摘要

This paper presents a new circuit implementation of an Ultrasonic Range Sensor that has great potential to solve many of the traditional problems found in conventional multiple mobile robot applications. The new implementation uses phase shift detection instead of a fix threshold in the receiver, works as a narrow band-pass filter, and uses a voltage controlled oscillator to change the modulation frequency of each sensor. These characteristics allow us to: divide the working frequency of the transducer into several channels, tune each sensor to each different channel, and operate the sonar using different channels and/or channel sequence combinations. Mathematical analysis of the circuit and Doppler effect considerations in the design and performance of the circuit are also presented. Simulation results show the performance of the circuit and further considerations in the design, implementation and operation of the new URS implementation.
