We investigate the transient absorption characteristics of interband (IB) transitions influenced by an intersubband (ISB) control light in an undoped quantum well system with both the coupling light fields in pulsed form. The effect of the dephasing rate of the system and the ISB control pulse characteristics on the IB absorption are investigated. The temporal overlap of the control and the signal light pulses affecting the transient IB absorption are also studied. It is observed that the optical modulation by the control light field depends significantly on the detuning of the signal light from the resonant IB transition energy.
