On-axis and off-axis butt-joining coupling by GRIN tapered planar waveguides with hyperbolic secant refractive-index profiles: Numerical aperture conversion and position and angle transformations
An analysis of butt-joining coupling by GRIN tapered planar waveguides with hyperbolic secant refractive-index profiles is made from geometrical optics. Numerical aperture conversion for on-axis optical connections and position and angle transformations of rays for off-axis optical connections are obtained in order to design devices for integrated optics.
