摘要

We demonstrate that an appropriate discretization scheme can render the convergence of the coupled-dipole approximation (also known as the discrete-dipole approximation) much more regular and improve its accuracy by as much as a factor of 24. This discretization scheme is simple, can be applied to arbitrarily shaped scatterers, and does not require additional computation time. (C) 1997 Optical Society of America.
