Cotton fabrics are chemically modified in an attempt to convey the novel properties to textile systems.The cellulosic systems were treated with the non-formaldehyde crosslinking agents 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid (BTCA),citric acid (CA)and glyoxal,in combination with solutions containing hydrolyzed tetraethoxysilane (TEOS),3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS)or vinyltriethoxysilane (VTEOS).Evaluation of the textile physical properties indicates that the dry crease recovery angle is improved when GPTMS is incorporated in the formulation.Quantification of the cotton-bound glyoxal by means of HPLC is remarkably influenced when the glyoxal-containing solution had been mixed with nanosol solutions prior to the application to the cotton fabric.
