Student Job Search (SJS) is encouraging orchardists to use their free service to find workers from their large pool of tertiary students. Lorna McConnon, Student Job Search Marketing and Communications Specialist, says this year SJS has emphasised talking to employer organisations that have specific requirements for part-time, summer or casual staff and trying to find suitable students to fill these roles. "We have approached specific organisations such as Hort NZ, the Chamber of Commerce and other industry groups around the country and are having quite a bit of success. This is because we are talking to employers who have specific needs."
