To those in the market chain beyond the farm gate, the summerfruit growing industry is on its knees and again I stress the industry is in the marketer and retailer's hands outgoing Chairman of Summerfruit NZ Basil Goodman told growers at the recent annual meeting held in Hawke's Bay. "Growers do not operate a cost plus business. My plea is to pay them fairly so growers can continue to maintain summerfruit as a fruit category in your wholesale and retail business."
