After the the fuss had died down, and the lonely male fruit fly from Queensland went to the lab in the sky, interesting news seemed to be drifting out of the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) in a most subtle way, via other people's media releasesand anecdotally. Such as: someone said a beagle appeared at Wellington airport, where no beagle had been for months; someone else said (The Labour Party as a matter of fact) that MPI was recruiting 40 quarantine inspectors. But none of this news came direct from the MPI, which was interesting in itself. So The Orohardist and NZCrower went straight to the horse's mouth for some answers.
