Living on land prone to earthquakes, New Zealanders understand what a seismic shift can do to the landscape. Large-scale movements in the global economy have shaken things up and the ground doesn't look the same as it did a year ago. Meanwhile, the shockwaves continue. After several years of high interest rates, a slowdown was already occurring in the New Zealand economy. Earlier this year many were saying dairy prices resulting from increased world commodity prices would moderate the effects of theslowdown. However, this is now tailing off.
