Perfect weather and a happy, relaxed crowd ensured the success of Katikati's fifth Avocado Food and Wine Festival last month. An estimated 1,500 adults plus heaps of children in holiday mood settled in for a full six hours of music, dancing and fine food. Some were enjoying the atmosphere so much they stayed on even when tables and chairs were removed. Foodies were spoiled for choice with stalls offering everything from scallops, sushi and whitebait to avocado chocolate mousse, dips and even green avocado ice-cream along with plenty of fine wines and beer.
