摘要

The most serious aspect of tamarillo virus infection is that there is no cure. Once a plant is infected it remains infected for the rest of its life. There are six virus diseases that are known to affect tamarillos in New Zealand, and a range of other s overseas that have not yet been recorded in New Zealand. Those recorded in New Zealand are: Tamarillo mosaic virus (TaMV), the most commonly found in tamarillo orchards with often 100% of trees infected. Symptoms include a yellow mottling of the leaves and a darker red blotching of the fruit that is not acceptable for export or TAG 1 grade for the local market. It almost certainly has a depressive effect on yield as well.
