A field experiment conducted at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU, Varanasi during 1993 and 1994 wet season revealed that full recommended dose of N application and organic sources applied either alone or in combination with prilled urea torice increased the grain yield, straw yield, yield attributing characters, nutrient uptake and net return in rice. Nitrogen application at full recommended dose (120 kg ha~(-1)) through combination of carpet waste and prilled urea in 50:50 ratio recorded maximum grain yield, straw yield and yield attributing characters, nutrient uptake and net return in rice. No significant variation in pH, electrical conductivity, organic carbon and available N, P and K content of soil due to various treatments couldbe observed after harvest of the crop.
