In a world with plentiful food,it has been a severe challenge,for almost four decades,to have arguments heard in opposition to steadily reducing public and private resources allocated to innovation in science of relevance to crop-based agriculture.This has been despite full awareness that the global population was on a steep upward curve and that hundreds of millions of people continued to live without enough food and many even starve to death.
