The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is in the process of issuing a series of new standards designated IEC 62841 for the safety of motor-operated handheld and transportable tools and gardening equipment. The first part IEC 62841-1 Ed.1.0, the general requirements standard has now been released as a final draft standard and is set for approval and full publication in February 2014.
