On 15 June, over twenty members and local FWAG members, including the President, gathered to consider the opportunities and problems associated with lowland - especially farm -woodlands: their establishment, sylviculture and marketing. In the morning,kindly hosted by Michael Williams (Chairman of FWAG, member of the Scottish Executive, Biodiversity Committee, director of the Southern Uplands Partnership and erstwhile member of SNH South-East Board), the group walked round Eaglescaimie Mains at Gifford, East Lothian, to see the very impressive re-establishment and recovery of a network of farm woods in an old lowland estate landscape.
