Jindal Strips Ltd., India's largest producer of stainless steel, has won an order to supply 55,000 tonnes of stainless 304 slabs to the United States.The order, worth about 3 billion rupees (63 million dollars), was placed by North American Stainless. The first shipment of 7,000 tonnes left the port of Mumbai this month, according to N.C. Mathur, director of Jindal Strips, and the remaining tonnage will be shipped in three equal installments before the end of March. He said the order had an alloy surcharge clause and thus would be protected against any fluctuations in the price of nickel.
