Surplus seed inventory is used to help the world's hungry feed themselves. How does a seed company get rid of unwanted out-of-date or low germ seed? The not-for-profit organization, Seeds to the World, asks seedsmen to consider donating such leftover seed, which will be distributed among needy countries around the globe. Many third world countries experience famine and hunger while seed companies from more prosperous nations look for ways to dispose of unwanted inventory of vegetable, field and flowe r seed. The mission statement of Seeds to the World sets forth the hope that by "providing the requisite materials and knowledge to the poor and needy people of the world, the dramatic and devastating effects of hunger, and ultimately death, can be allev iated."
