Shape memory behavior in Ti-Zr alloys

摘要

The shape memory behavior of Ti_(50)Zr_(50) and Ti_(70)Zr_(30) alloys has been investigated, associated with the microstructure and phase transformation analyses. Both Ti-Zr alloys are composed of single twinned and self-accommodated martensites in hexagonal structure at room temperature. A reversible martensitic transformation occurs in Ti_(50)Zr_(50) and Ti_(70)Zr_(30) alloys, and the martensitic transformation start temperatures are as high as 813 and 913 K, respectively. In comparison with Ti_(50)Zr_(50), Ti_(70)Zr_(30) alloy exhibits a higher shape memory strain of 1.4% and a better plasticity.
