摘要

Tb_(0.3)Dy_(0.7)Fe_(1.95) was prepared in cylindrical rod forms by modified Bridgman technique. To maintain a constant thermal gradient to solidification rate ratio throughout the sample length, the solidification rate was decreased from 70 cm h~(-1) to 30cm h~(-1) in three stages. The sample close to the chill plate showed a large magnetostriction and (110) texture. After changing the solidification rate the sample exhibited low magnetostriction and random texture. Thus intermittent changes of solidification rate lead to thermal instability of the growth front, affecting texture.
