It has been an exciting time for oil companies and contractors in the offshore energy sector,especially those with deepwater operations.Crude prices skyrocketed to an all-time record high in late 2007,close to 100 per barrel,settling near the 90 per barrel mark.High petroleum costs and stable natural gas prices invigorated interest in the deepwater U.S.Gulf of Mexico as well as prospects in international regions.
