The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA)recently announced that a new ecological forecast system for harmful algal blooms(HABS)in the Gulf of Mexico will soon become operational.The system will produce information daily and forecasts at least twice weekly that will be used to determine the current and future location and intensity of blooms,as well as the likely impacts to the environment.
