Scientists recently discovered the ability to detect a phy-loplankton bloom in its early stages by looking at its red "glow" under sunlight.The glow is not visible to the human eye,but can be detected by instruments aboard new National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA)satellites.Early prediction can forewarn fishermen and swimmers about developing cases of red tide.
