摘要

A theoretical model that relates the(γ+α2 ) two-phase equilibrium in ternary Ti-Al-Xalloys to the substitution behavior of alloyingelements in the two ordered phases has beensuggested. The method uses experimentallymeasured occupation probabilities of the alloyingelements on different sublattices as input, andallows estimates of the mole fractions of the twophases for a given alloy composition. Predictionsof the stabilising effects on the gamma or alphasub 2 phase of Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W etc. are madeusing site occupancy data measured in the author'sgroup and elsewhere, and are compared withindependent phase stabilisation results. Goodagreement has been reached. In particular, thevariation in the stabilising effect of Cr isexplained by the strong composition dependence(especially on Ti/Al ratio) of the site occupancyof Cr in the γphase. The model has been validatedby comparing predictions with experimentallymeasured phase fractions and phase boundaries,using a variety of ternary Ti-Al-X alloys.
