During Si-pack cementation a MoSi_2 outer layer was synthesized on a Mo-Si-B alloy with a three-phase Mo + Mo_5SiB_2 + Mo_3Si micro structure. Following oxidation exposure, the MoSi_2 phase layer was replaced by B containing Mo_5Si_3 (T_1) phase in contact with a Mo_5SiB_2 layer. The synthesized T_1 phase provided an excellent oxidation resistance and stability.
