Pennsylvania State University Advanced Research Laboratory(ARL)displayed a cut-away model of a canistered counter anti-torpedo torpedo(CCAT).The CCAT is fired/ controlled by the AN/WSQ-11 ship self-defense system.The 105-inch-long,6.75-inch diameter all-up round is capable of being launched from a surface ship or submarine.After the canister gives the weapon its initial impulse,it is turbo-driven from the interaction of a chemical with seawa-ter.ARL has a contract to build seven engineering development weapons.The high-speed,high maneuvering,ultralight-weight weapon is multi-mission,capable of providing anti-surface warfare and special operations.
