摘要

Cashew (Anacardium occidental L.) is one of the important commercial plantation crops which today is deemed as the source of dollar earning crop for the country. Earlier, cashew cultivation in India was mostly confined to coastal regions due to favorable climatic conditions. In the recent past, it is also gaining popularity in the interior parts of India because of its drought tolerant nature and adaptability to wide range of climate and soil, which are often unsuitable for cultivation of many commercial crops. Among the various production constraints identified, the insect pests form one of the major limiting factors causing a crop loss of 30 to 40 percent (Satapathy, 1994). Among these pests, the Tea Mosquito Bug alone has a potential to cause 40to 50 percent yield loss in cashew (Anon., 1999).
