Sonardyne International Ltd. (Hants, united Kingdom) has introduced what is believed to be the world's first acoustic positioning system capable of providing 3D monitoring of pipeline bundles. The system was developed in resposne to a request from Subsea 7 (U.K.) and was successfully used for the first time in July of this year during the tow of a fourkilometer pipeline from Subsea 7's yard in Wick, Scotland, to the Alba Field in the North Sea.
