After more than eight years of intensive research by an international team of scientists,the researchers have achieved a better understanding of a notorious and potentially deadly compound known as saxitoxin.University of Maine marine scientist Laurie Connell led the expedition to study saxitoxin,the primary culprit in cases of paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP),the always dangerous,sometimes deadly consequence of red tide.
