The complex relationships between atmospheric carbon dioxide,biological productivity and the role of the Southern Ocean in carbon sequestration have been demonstrated by scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL) and Princeton University.
