North Korea expressed rare gratitude to the United States for helping one of its ships repel pirates-the latest sign of improving relations between the countries as North Korea scales back its nuclear weapons program.The Combined Maritime Forces headquarters,based in Bahrain,received a call from the International Maritime Bureau,located in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia,providing the status of the North Korean cargo vessel Dai Hong Dan,which was approximately 60 nautical miles northeast of Mogadishu,Somalia,in late October.
