摘要

Fiber Bragg grating (FBG)-based aerostat envelope strain monitoring is a new concept in structural health monitoring (SHM), which provides a prerequisite to ensure secure operation of aerostat inflatable systems. A key technology is the establishment of optical-mechanical transfer equation of surface-bonded FBG sensors. In this paper, based on previous surface-bonded FBG models in existing researches, an improved bonding approach for surface-bonded FBGs is proposed for aerostat envelop strain monitoring, and an optical-mechanical transfer equation is derived through strain transfer analysis of the proposed model. Then, a comparison of strain transfer rate distribution along the fiber of the improved model and previous work are conducted, and parameters of adhesive layer that influence strain transfer rate from aerostat envelope to optical fiber are analyzed. Finally, a numerical simulation is carried out to validate theoretical predictions. Finite element method (FEM) results confirm the reliability of proposed theoretical equations. The study of optical-mechanical transfer of surface-bonded FBGs offers a theoretical foundation for corresponding standardized design and precision analysis.
