The monitoring of sea ice is an important concern for managing offshore activities.In ice-covered seas,detecting sea-ice conditions is needed to protect ships and decrease damage to coastal facilities or ocean structures.Ice forecasts can contribute to such sea-ice monitoring.The Japan Meteorological Agency(JMA)performs a seven-day forecast of sea ice in the southern Okhotsk Sea,the results of which provided via Internet.
