In 2007,as the U.S.Navy and U.S.Marine Corps remained engaged in the war on terrorism in places like the mountains of southwestern Afghanistan,the streets of Baghdad and the waters off the Horn of Africa,the Office of Naval Research (ONR) provided new tools for warfighters to fight battles today,while planning and managing the birth of tomorrow's naval technology for future conflicts.Over the past year,a number of our programs have reached important milestones,and we have also been hard at work crafting initiatives that are making ONR even more responsive to warfighter needs.
