Getting started We worked with 54 sixth-grade students in three contiguous classrooms with two teachers. After consulting with Frank Corrado, the math teacher, a decision was made to place five pegboard pinball machines in each classroom, to open the "store" on a table in the hallway between the classrooms, and to divide students into groups of three or four. This predetermined student-to-pinball machine ratio meant that there were no more than 20 students in each room. The student-to-pinball machine ratio proved successful, and although four students per machine worked well, I would not go over five students per table. My husband Tom and Frank are both avid woodworkers, so they decided to build the 16 pinball machine frames by themselves.
