摘要

A two day National Seminar on cashew 'Indian Cashew in the Next Decade- Challenges and Opportunities' was held at Raipur, Chattisgarh from 18th to 19th May 2007. The seminar was organized by the Directorate of Horticulture and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of Chattisgarh in association with the Directorate of Cashewnut and Cocoa Development, Cochin. In his inaugural address the chief guest Dr. P.P. Mathur, Additional Secretary, Financial Advisor, Government of India, Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation said that Cashew is an important foreign exchange earner and there is a need to harness the cashew sector through quality production and area expansion. He also emphasised the need for serious and more concerted efforts on post harvest management, especially on Cashew processing.
