What is structured commodity finance? Structured commodity finance is a technique by which a lender will extend a short-term facility to a borrower based on a security package normally consisting of current assets belonging to the borrower (or in some cases purchased from the borrower on a buy-back arrangement) over which the lender has control (for instance, it can sell them if it needs to). These assets serve as collateral for the loan.
