With risk assessment and many other aspects pertaining to harmonisation of Indian standards with codex norms almost completed, India is likely to consolidate its position in the global food trade in the near future.The apex food authority is said to have completed the entire mapping exercise for all the horizontal standards of the general committee subjects under Codex, a body known for developing harmonised international food standards, guidelines and codes of practice. Codex has been established by FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN) and WTO (World Trade Organisation).
