Intercropping was not practiced earlier in cashew plantations as cashew itself was grown in areas where other crops seldom grow. The situation has changed a lot due to the intervention of various research and development agencies. Possibility of intercropping in cashew has become a priority research area as its viability has been reported from different parts of the country. A concrete recommendation is yet to come based on the soil, climate, age of plantation, spacing, cultivation practices etc. However available information are sufficient to encourage farmers to undertake intercropping in cashew plantation.
