Construction of Minnesota Power's Taconite Ridge I Wind Energy Center - northeastern Minnesota's first commercial wind development - is nearing completion. Work began in September on the 25-megawatt facility, located on property owned by United States Steel Corporation near its Minntac Mine in Mountain Iron. "Construction always has its challenges, and we're proud of the fact that our team worked safely throughout the winter," said Andy Remus, Taconite Ridge project panager. "We remain positioned for an early summer start-up and final commissioning of the facility."
