Landscapes should provide much more than just something pretty to look at. They should provide active recreation, whether giving children a place to run and play or allowing adults to get needed exercise (a.k.a. weeding). Landscapes should provide stories and interesting points of conversation. They should provide habitats for wildlife and an area for humans to enjoy them. And, some would argue, landscapes should provide items for the dinner plate. Indeed, the plant world contains an enormous selection of both beautiful and edible plants. Many of these plants — ones that are both pleasing to the eye, and to the palette — are native to Florida and the Southeast. Here is a selection of native plants that can also be used as part of an edible landscape.
